I Said What I Said
THE UNSOLICITED OPINIONS PODCAST
I Said What I Said launched in 2017 by Jola Ayeye and FK Abudu and is one of the biggest podcasts in Africa with 100K + monthly listeners and sold out live shows across several countries.
What started out as a casual conversational podcast between two friends, has now grown into one of the biggest podcasts in Africa.
With an active and vibrant community of over 120,000 monthly listeners across 190 countries and sold out live shows, FK and Jola have maintained an audience with their authentic and dynamic personalities and they’re just getting started.
As of January 2024, the podcast joined Carousel Network and is now completely managed by us. We are responsible for scheduling recordings, full production, managing guests, social media, marketing, sponsorships and event organisation.
Rebranding
Going into its seventh year, we decided that the podcast needed a total rebrand and a fresh new look. We worked with a designer to develop a more intentional and appropriate visual identity and organised a photo shoot to reflect the growth of the hosts. We also launched a marketing campaign and social media promotion to announce the new era and the start of Season 6.
With social media platforms as the primary means of connection with the audience, we developed and entirely content strategy, which has been very successful with driving the growth and reach of the podcast while maintaining audience participation.
I Said What I Said UK Live Tour
In September 2024, The Carousel Team put together a live show tour for the podcast in the UK. With a global audience, live shows are a great opportunity to connect with the community and create an amazing in-person experience. From conceptualisation, to finding venues promotion, securing brand sponsorships and logistics, we executed a very successful tour.
Dublin. Manchester. London
With a successful live show in London last year, we decided to up the ante and have shows in two other major cities as well - Dublin and Manchester. We secured the venues including the amazing Hackney Empire for the London show and all the shows were completely sold out!
